21 January 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 21st January [1892]. The wind went down & we had a very fine day tho’ somewhat cold. The news of Mrs Burr rather more reassuring today– Mrs Mackie still very bad. Henry went with Mr Lowther & Mr Farnall to Murano to show them the glass blowing. I went out in gondola with Ida & left a lot of cards to thank Canevaro, Billia &c for coming to the funeral service. Henry went yesterday afternoon to see the D. of Genoa’s ADC & convey the thanks of the English colony. Ida Bel: & I walked from the Arsenal to the Piazza & to the Pension Suisse to enquire for Mrs Burr found she was still dangerously ill. Ida came home to tea with me– Mme Schiff Levi & Mrs Cozzi came to tea– Ola & I made more cigarettes in the evening.
