4 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 4th February [1892]. Splendid day. Henry much better & up as usual. Ola not up till lunch– Painted my fan– Miss Ffoulkes came to work with Henry and Mrs Humberston came to fetch her before lunch & came in to see me– It was so fine that Henry went out with me– We walked on the Piazzetta & then met Ola walking with Ida Bel– Met also the Dss della Grazia. As we came home there suddenly came on a thick fog & we were glad to be just home. Css Brandolin & her daughter who have just returned from Milan came to tea. Read to Henry before dinner. Ola went to bed in the middle of dinner being tired. I read aloud to Henry while he played patience. News of the death of Spurgeon who had been at death’s door a year ago. He was a friend of Henrys when he was member for Southwark. | |
