3 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 3rd February [1892]. Henry’s cold worse so I persuaded him to remain in bed till 3 oclock—& I sat with him & wrote letters & attended to him. At 3 I went out & fetched Ida Bel & we went to leave cards– Then she left me at Princess Hatzfeldts where there was an afternoon party. The old lady was looking very pretty & was very amiable & kind. I did not stay long being anxious to return to Henry. I made the acquaintance of Dr & Mme Lode, she is a daughter of Napier’s wife—nice looking & pleasant. He was director of the Art Gallery at Frankfort & is here to study at the Maniana. Ida had come to Ola who had got up but was not off the sofa—& Ida & I had tea together. She & her husband & Mr Malcolm dined with us & we had the Trios in the evening—the Grand Trio of Beethoven, one of Hummel & an Andante of Raff. They played very well. The Pss of Montenegro, Dss della Grazia &c came– We went to bed about 12. Rained all day–
