6 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 6th February [1892]. We went with Mr Malcolm to the Rossini Theatre to see L’amico Fritz—Mascagni’s new opera—& liked it very much– The Orchestra from Florence played it very well & it was well sung. The plot is simple & dull but there are some very pretty things in it especially the intermezzo. The 2nd Act is the most interesting. Owing to the high prices, 5 fcs each entrata & 40 fcs the boxes the house was thin—& the opera cannot be said to have been a great success.
