23 February 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 23rd [February 1892]. I being tired & Henry unwell we breakfasted in bed & I by his side—but he got up abt 11. I remained in bed till after lunch & wrote my letters. We heard fm Sir Fred. Burton that Sir Wm Gregory is very ill & that he had been suddenly taken ill last Wedy the very day before they had intended starting for Algiers. We are greatly distressed, he being Henry’s greatest friend. I went out in the afternoon to see Ida Belmondo & on to Css Giulia Persico & also called on her step mother in law Css Marina Persico a very bright lively old lady. Ida Bel & her husband dined with us, & he & I played Halma– Ola went to bed early rather knocked up after the ball.
