7 March 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 7th [March 1892]. We went by the 10 A.M. train to Stanghella arriving abt 12.40 & were met by Css Pisani’s carriage. Took my maid Rosa, Bertha the cook & John the footman. Found the Css well & Ola ditto– Had lunch & looked out of the windows at all the garden improvements wh are many. It was a cold grey day & threatened snow. I sat all the afternoon chatting & gossipping with the Countess & after 5 o’cl tea read aloud to Henry till dinner. Ola & I played guitar & mandola duetts in the evening. Henry played patience. D. Antonio dined & was in very good humour.
