8 April 1892 — Florence
Friday. 8th [April 1892]. Was much better & got up to breakfast. Sent Regina off to see her relatives. I took the Kangaroos to the Uffizi gallery, from 11 to 1. Came home to lunch. Ola & Nela had been sightseeing. Henry did not go out. Lunch at 1.30. Visit from Countess Michiel & Rita. Sir Dom Colnaghi came at 4 & I went out with him shopping & leaving cards & he took me to Graciosa’s & gave me tea. Abt 6 on the way home I saw old Mrs Edgecumbe in the street—hailed her & she came in with me to our hotel (Gran Bretagne) & paid us a visit & then took me in her cab to the chemist where I got lozenges for Henry & then she left me at the hotel. She is such a dear old lady & so pretty & kind that I was delighted to see her. We dined at 8—preferring tea upstairs. Patience.
