9 April 1892 — Florence | |
Saturday. 9th April [1892]. Henry’s cold was so bad he breakfasted in bed & got up about 11. He did not go out. I went out shopping in afternoon with Katie Colnaghi; went to a garden to choose plants for Mr Eden & then dropped Katie at home. Henry & I dined with Mme Villari—met Ct & Css Guiliucci– He a son of the singer “Clara Novello”—a Ct Mase (nephew of Minghetti) & Mr Willard Fisk an American very rich man who has just bought the Villa Landor. A few people came in the evening & it was very pleasant. Villari himself was away at Rome being Minister for public instruction. | |
