29 April 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 29th April [1892]. Poured all day & very cold. I did not go out. Nela read aloud to me while I worked. The girls & Mr Thompson went to the Lido by steamer in the rain to get a walk. Mme Buchtold & Charlotte called, later M. & Mme de Pilat the latter P.P.C. We dined at 7.30 & Henry took the girls to the Liceo concert– Rossini’s small mass—but they had to leave before the end as Ola was faint from the heat. I played Halma with Mr Thompson & was not in bed when the others returned & Nela & I went to the kitchen & made ourselves tea.
