7 June 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 7th [June 1892]. Henry & I went out in sandolo in the morning to the Piazza. Mrs Browning came to see me at 12. The Belmondos came to lunch. Later Edith Bronson & Miss Cox came & then Mme Hurtado. After tea Henry & I went to the Eden’s garden & the lilies were splendid. Took leave of them. Met the Montalbas there—Clara sent me a lovely watercolour she had done for me as a souvenir. We had to hurry back fm garden as a tremendous storm threatened but altho’ it was all round—very dark & blew a good deal it never really broke over us. There was a great deal of lightening. Mr Malcolm & Passini dined with us– Passini will not let us pay for my portrait but begs to do it over again in the autumn–
