6 June 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 6th June [1892]. Looked thro’ my journals to find the date of our visits to Merthyr since 1881 in case Henry shd be called by him to give evidence of the state of Lady Westr as the family are going to dispute the will. I remained in bed to do this work & only got up for lunch. Mrs Holford & Lady Hilda came to lunch & Henry took out Mrs Holford in gondola– Nela took out Lady Hilda. I remained at home till they returned to tea after which Henry & I went off to the Eden’s garden to see the lilies wh are nearly out & quite lovely. Ola & Nela went with Ida to see Mme Wiel. Henry, the girls & I dined with Mr Malcolm to meet the Bishop & Mrs Sandford & he & I came home early; the girls went for a row in sandolo.
