2 July 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Saturday. 2nd July [1892]. Very warm day. Mrs Kay came to see me & sat talking some time this morning. The awning was fixed in the leads leading out of the dining room & there we sat after lunch. Blanche’s boys Vere & Myles came up for their exeat & as their brother & sisters have the chickenpox we agreed to take them in here– They arrived in time for lunch & Blanche also lunched here. Kate left us & returned to Peterboro by 3.20 train & I was very sorry to have to let her go. Blanche took the boys out. Henry drove to Victoria Park to the meeting & dinner of the Directors of the Huguenot Hospital. I went for a walk in search of mignonette & other pots to plant round the awning & found none so I walked on to Park Crescent & had tea with Maria & afterwards she walked with me. We bought flowers off a barrow in Marylebone High Street & then went to see Mama. I dined at 7.30 with the 2 boys who then went to the theatre with their parents & I went straight to bed & read & wrote. Henry came home soon after 10.
