21 July 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 21st July [1892]. We had Mr & Mrs Gerald Williams, the Whites & Augustus Alderson to lunch & then Henry & I went down to Colchester by an afternoon train to be at the Huguenot meeting there. We found on getting there that we had mistaken the day & ought to have come yesterday. However we were in time for the dinner at which Henry presided at the Cups Hotel where we slept the night. Henry made an after dinner speech & there were the usual toasts after dinner & all went to the Castle where we were kindly entertained by Mr Round & his sister. The Castle is made into a kind of Museum to keep the antiquities found in the neighbourhood & it was lighted up for our benefit & we were shown round.
