22 July 1892 — Colchester
Friday. 22nd July [1892]. We all went to a service held at All Saints church on purpose for the Huguenot society to have a special Te Deum. It is the church used by the first Huguenots who settled in Colchester– Afterwards we went to several interesting places—to a Roman Gate way &c & ended by going to the house of a gentleman who had turned his conservatory into a kind of museum for old Roman remains he had collected. I nearly got a bad fall for not seeing a step I stumbled forward on to my face to the alarm of the lady of the house—but luckily escaped with a good shake. In the afternoon we returned by train to London.
