9 October 1892 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Sunday. 9th [October 1892]. Henry & I breakfasted on the terrace leading out of my bedroom & I read aloud to him fm Mme Piozzi’s Italian recollections till 11 when I went out in the garden with Henry & Mr Colvin till lunch at 12. Afterwards we sat chatting till 3 when Henry & Mr Colvin drove off to see Este. At 4.30 the Countess, Ola & I drove to the granario farm where she has a kitchen fitted up for herself & calls “le petit Trianon.” Bertha & the little maid Santina had been sent on to prepare & we found tea ready for us. After tea we went to the stables & then drove on to another farm & got back just abt 6. We went out to see the large white convolvulus open that I had got for her. It appears that in hot weather it opens with a pop at sunset but tonight it came out so slowly we could not wait to see it & I went in & read to Henry till dinner.
