8 October 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 8th [October 1892]. We left Venice by 10 A M train, Henry, Mr Colvin, Ola & I & Bertha & John– Got to Vescovana abt 12.30. A lovely day but not over hot. The Countess received us with open arms & gave us an excellent luncheon & we sat talking & then went round the garden to see all the improvements which are wonderful as the Countess has laid out a formal garden which is now gay with flowers & looks as if it had existed there for years. After we went for a drive to one of the farms to show a stable to Mr Colvin. Henry, he & I went in open carriage. The Countess & Ola in a shut one. We dined at 7.30. I read aloud to Henry before dinner.
