23 October 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 23rd October [1892]. I went to church with Miss Cadogan, Ola & Miss Sharpe. The Empress went to the German church. Countess Pisani & Marchesa Guiccioli lunched with us at 1. She (the latter) is a pretty woman fat fair & forty. Directly after lunch (2.15) Henry, Miss Cadogan, Ola & I went out in the steam launch with H.M., Pss Margaret, Prince F. C. & Baron Knesebeck. It was a splendid afternoon. We went to Fusina—landed & took a walk along the Brenta for 2 kilom.; Henry & the Prince only walked part of the way. We picked handfuls of wild flowers salvias & daisy. Coming back Ola & I made tea in the steamer. A glorious sunset. We dined at home & went in the eveng to Pal. Malcolm where H.M. had Css Pisani, Mar. Guiccioli & the Benomars dining. We came home by 10.30.
