3 November 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 3rd November [1892]. I was tired & remained in bed for breakfast. The weather improved. I did not go out. The carpenters finished preparing the frame & curtains for the “Pictures” & at 5 Mr Woods came to look after it. We dined at 7 & with us Woods, Passini & Malcolm & at 9 the Empress & her party came over for the entertainment. Monty Alderson & Stella played piano & violin pieces in the intervals—the Pictures were very successful. I posed twice—once as a man—& again as a Turkish woman. Ola as Portia—& an Italian peasant plucking gran Turco. Mrs Hulton in a Lungi portrait & Passini a Moroni “the Tailor”, Sir D. Colnaghi an Arab Chief—Mr Hulton a Titian portrait—& lastly Stella the Muse of music draped in white—a wreath of gold laurel leaves & her violin.
