16 November 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 16th November [1892]. Henry breakfasted in bed but his cold is much better—Stella also better but Mrs Dyer & I were the only ones down to 9 o’cl breakfast. Ola got up & came into the studio for luncheon– Cini came to see Stella & we had a long confab as to what Stella & Mrs Dyer should do this winter. He recommends the Riviera & that Stella shd not go north. As Mrs Dyer has got to go to Paris I persuaded her to go alone & leave Stella in our care during her absence wh she at last consents to do. After lunch she & I went out in gondola & she took her tickets & decided to start tomorrow at 4 P.M. We went to call on Mr Eden & to enquire for Carrie who is also down with fever but is a little better. Came home to tea. Mrs Dyer went out again. Stella & Henry had taken care of each other while I was out as Stella had been allowed to get up for lunch. I gave them tea. Marie Cozzi also came to tea & Mr & Mrs Curtis also. I read aloud to Henry before dinner & after dinner we looked over “Calle e Canali” a set of photos given by Henry to Stella.
