25 November 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 25th November [1892]. Stella much better & Cini did not come at all. Henry’s cold about the same. He did not get up till after 11. Stella read to him in afternoon. Just before lunch Sr Trombini came in to see me with a distracted mien. He says his wife has been very ill since Saturday. Has been confined of a dead baby & has been desperately ill but is now beginning to recover. He said he had been giving one or two lessons to turn his thoughts a little. After lunch Ola & I practised guitar & mandoline together & then I went out in gondola. Dined upstairs & looked at the prints in the big Monuments of Nineveh in eveng.
