22 December 1892 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 22nd [December 1892]. I had rather a headache so breakfasted in bed & wrote letters. Ola went out shopping for Christmas with Miss Holas & brought her back to lunch with us. Ola went off before lunch was over to the station to meet Monty Alderson who arrived from Rome where he was with Ct & Css Pasolini’s family, to spend Christmas. Ct & Css Belmondo Caccia also arrived by the same train. She having been away since October. After lunch Henry & I went out in gondola to the Piazza to buy a present for Ola– Then called on the Dyers at the Grand Hotel & found that they have settled to go with Mrs Bronson’s house as the servants have humbled themselves & had had a fright. Countess Papadopoli called– Mr Woods, Mr Fischer & Mr Reuben came to tea & then tried some effects for the tableaux for Christmas. Mme Wiel came to tea. Stella did not come to read to Henry as she has a cough. Mr & Mrs Dyer & Mr Woods dined with us.
