11 March 1893 — Florence | |
Saturday. 11th [March 1893]. Henry & I into Florence at 10.30 in the little hired open carriage. Henry went with Sir Domenic Colnaghi to see some pictures left by an old Mr Wallace, who died at the age of 98, to the National Gallery. Out of 500 pictures he says there is nothing worth having. Katie Col: & I went off together shopping & returned to lunch at their house. After lunch Henry went off again to see old Mr Spence & Mr Leader & we met again at Css Michiel’s & from there returned to Poggio Gherardo. Mr & Mrs Ross had also been in to town & Lina had been also on her own acct to see a Doctor. We met again at the Villa about 5.30. Dined at 7. Patience in the evening. | |
