20 March 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 20th March [1893]. I went out after lunch to the Dss della Grazia’s. She invited people to come & play lawn tennis in her garden for the 1st time this season. It was a fine day very hot sun but cold wind. The Dss met each person at the door to say that her daughter Caroline has got the measles so that if one were afraid of infection one could go away. I had the measles some 6 years ago so I was not afraid & went in. I did not play tennis but sat some time watching. | |
