17 November 1893 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 17th [November 1893]. Directly after breakfast Nela & I went off in sandolo to see the Studio at the Casa Raffaelli S. Trovaso which Mr Woods has kindly taken for me to paint in. His gondolier met us & showed us the place. We unpacked our painting materials & then went off to the German woman’s shop at the Ponte delle Ostreghe to lay in more stores of canvass &c took them back to the studio & then came home. The studio is at the end of a long sala at the top of the house—not very large but has a very good light. We came home to lunch at 1, & then went to the Lido in the afternoon—splendid weather. Hy & I, Pamela & Nela went in the closed gondola going. Ola & Lina in the sandolo. Nela & I sketched on the shore while Henry & Pamela walked to the bathing place & back, & then Henry & Lina & I came back in the gondola by 5 o’cl tea time. Iduna Belmondo dined with us.
