12 February 1894 — Naples | |
Monday. 12th [February 1894]. We were just going out in the afternoon when Margherita Brandolin & her uncle Juanito d’Adda came to call so we saw them in the central Hall & then they offered to drive us in their carriage so we went with them to the door of their Hotel (Vesuvius) & from there walked by S. Lucia to the new Gallery & I bought some mandoline music. We returned in a cab to our hotel. Mr & Mrs John Kay bringing an introduction from Mme Hurtado paid us a visit. They are staying in this hotel. He was secy in the American Legation at the time we were at Madrid. After dinner we met the Hatzfeldts & Css Guiccioli & sat together for coffee. | |
