10 March 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 10th March [1894]. Tired & wrote letters in bed only getting up to luncheon– Afternoon went out in gondola with Henry & Katie. Ola went to the Choir practise. We left cards for the various people who had sent us bouquets yesterday & at 4 went to Mrs Bronson’s to see a play in the Venetian dialect written by her & acted by 4 children of the people—who did it really very cleverly having been taught by Mrs Bronson– One small boy was clever & comic tho’ he overdid his part of a gondolier– The girl who represented his wife showed great talent being perfectly calm & composed– There were several Venetian ladies present. The stage was managed at one end of Mrs Bronson’s small drawing room facing the windows—so that no other light was needed.
