12 March 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 12th [March 1894]. I went off to my studio after breakfast & took Katie Colnaghi with me. Having no model I merely unpacked my paints & arranged them & came away. We went to the Piazza & then came home– The man from the jewellers came to string my pearls after lunch wh it took him an hour to do & get the rows to hang well. Katie Col: went to lunch with Mrs Hulton. Ola was in bed with stiff neck. Henry & I lunched alone & then went to the Eden’s garden. It was a lovely warm spring day & we sat on the Zacca there & found it very pleasant. I got a few spring flowers. On my return home I found Mrs Hulton & her little girl here for tea. Profr Trombini & Mme Canevaro dined with us & she sang in the eveng Trombini accompanying her. | |
