9 April 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 9th April [1894]. Breakfasted in bed & wrote letters & got up late. Copied a letter for Henry to Lord Rosebery abt the Directorship of the National Gallery. Hallam Murray came to see Henry & lunched with me– In afternoon I went out with Maria in a hansom to Cawthorn & Hull & opened a sub. at the lending library & brought Henry books to read. Had tea in Henry’s room. Dacre came to see him & Nela also. I kept Nela to dine with me & we sat afterwards in my bedroom. Mr Herring maintains his favorable opinion of the case.
