18 April 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 18th [April 1894]. I went with Augusta in the morning to Queen Anne’s Mansions to see an apartment she is thinking of taking there. I liked the look of it. It is on the 3rd floor. Has an unfurnished sitting room, bedroom, bathroom & a tiny entrance– Rent £100 including service & electric light. A restaurant & public drawing room. I advised her to take it & she decided to do so. After lunch we drove out in our new landau for the first time. Went to Park Crescent & took Maria out with us. Went to choose the wall papers for Augusta’s rooms– Home to tea & Maria, Augusta returned later. Henry sat in the arm chair in my bedroom & remained up till 10. We sat with him after dinner.
