15 May 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 15th May [1894]. Up to breakfast. Wrote letters for Henry. Practised guitar. Mr Herring came to see Henry before he got up & told me he found him no worse—indeed rather better & that all seemed to be going as he had from the first expected. Also that if all was well he hopes to have him carried downstairs next week. Henry got up abt 12 & came into my bedroom. Sat with him till lunch. Issie Du Cane lunched with Nela & me & then drove with us. I went to call on the Dyers at their lodging 40 Devonshire St & found them at home. Went to Q. Anne Mansions to see Lady Gregory & to meet Mrs Lynn Linton. She was very complimentary as regards Henry & said she had known him years ago & had a great admiration for him. Lady Robinson (wife of Sir Hercules) called there also—rather an alarming big woman. Came home to tea & sat with Henry. Went to call on Mama before dinner & sat with her half an hour. Stella came to see Henry for a short time. Dined with Nela & Nurse & played patience in eveng Henry looking on. Fine & warm day; rained a little towards night.
