17 May 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Thursday. 17th May [1894]. Henry was better this morng & his temp: normal. I got up to 9 o’cl breakfast & wrote some letters for him. Mr Rate came to see him & sat some time with him. He got up at 12. Stella Dyer came to see him. Mlle Palloni came to see me & to ask if I could find her a private house in which she could give a concert. Lady Gregory called & I took her driving with me. Nela stayed with Henry & Nurse went to see her dying sister. Augusta & I called on Lady Arthur Russell whom I had not seen since Lord Arthur died. I dropped A at Albert Gate & went on to Rigal to arrange my court dress for 31st. Home to tea. I found Connie here & Maria came also. Mr Herring came & ordered Henry champagne with his dinner. Ola came & dined here to sit in the evening with Henry. I went to dinner with Lady Gregory at Q. Anne Mansions & met Sir Arthur & Lady Clay, Sir Fred Burton, Sir Auckland Colvin & a Mr Wardle a silk manufacturer who is much occupied with English silks– We dined in the Restaurant & had a good dinner at 3/6 a head. Went up in the lift as the dining room is on 6th floor. Came down again to Augusta’s room & sat talking a little while & then came home.
