6 June 1894 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Wednesday. 6th June [1894]. Up to 9 o’cl breakfast. Painted in the spare room till nearly lunch time. It was so cold & windy that Henry had to give up going out this morning & was taken to the drawing room at 11.30. Mr Vigor the artist came to see me & remained to luncheon. He painted the oil picture of Henry which hangs in our dining room. Lina Duff Gordon came directly after lunch & drove out with Nela & me. We went leaving cards. Called on Mrs Rate & found her at home– We were in the open carriage & found it very cold. Came home at 4.30. Miss Georgie Duff Gordon came to call & saw Henry also Mlle de Perpigna & Lady Gregory. Young Rate & Jocelyn Persse came to tea– Augusta stayed to dinner. It came to pour abt 6 & was a wet night. I played patience for Henry in evening.
