27 October 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 27th October [1894]. Breakfasted with Ola—who went out afterwards to see Mme Wiel. Mr Poynter Director of the National Gallery came to see me. He is spending a few days in Venice & is on his way to Rome. Mr Brown also came & looked over our books to advise me as to what books to go on subscribing to. It was a fine hot day. Went out after lunch with Ola & walked up & down the Zattere. Ola went to the church to practise singing for tomorrow. I came home to tea– Clara & Hilda Montalba came abt 6 & stayed till nearly 8. Ola was tired & went to bed directly after dinner. I played patience.
