30 October 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 30th October [1894]. Wrote letters & read Henry’s MS. Mrs Eden arrived at 1.30 saying she had come to lunch with us as Mr Eden & Miss Parnell had gone out in the launch. After lunch she & I went over to their garden which is bright with chrysanthemums now in their beauty. We grubbed up plants of bays for me to try to grow in pots. I did not feel well—being suddenly taken with cholic & had to go home & get warm things & remain on the sofa until dinner. Ola read to me in eveng & I played patience.
