3 November 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 3rd November [1894]. I went off at 11 to Mrs Bronson’s & then got into her gondola & accompanied her to the Lido. We landed at S. Elisabetta. I walked to the sands. Mrs B. drove up in an open carriage. She opened the hut & brought out her paints & insisted I should sketch while she did the same. The sun was quite hot & we had to shelter ourselves with an awning. At 1.30 we partook of a cold lunch served to us by her maid Orseta & then painted again. At abt 3 we packed up & drove together down to S. Elisabetta & thence to Malamocco—there being a road all along the inside of the Lido. It was still lovely weather. When we reached Malamocco we turned back & joined our gondola at S. Elisabetta & got back to Venice at 5. Ola had had Mrs Eden to lunch & had been out in the sandolo.
