2 November 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 2nd November [1894]. Traced out & began to work tulip pattern in print Ungaro for a chair. Washed my hair. Read Henry’s letters. Ola & I went off to the Lido directly after lunch. A most lovely day. Landed at S. Elisabetta & walked along the shore to the Favorita. Mrs Bronson & Edith were sitting in their hut on the shore & Mrs B. invited me to go there to lunch tomorrow with her which I agreed to do. Read there & back aloud while Ola worked. Had a visit from Commandante Guillemetti who got let in by mistake & had tea with me. Read thro’ old journal. Dinner at 8. Patience & Ola read aloud. News that the Emp. Alexander III of Russia died yesterday– Poor wife! He is at rest & she begins a fresh work!
