1 December 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 1st December [1894]. Had a letter today from Maria saying Mamma is mending rapidly & they hope to get her to London before long. I wrote a good many letters. Washed my hair. Had a visit from Miss L. Holas. Ola went to the station at 10 to see Countess Pisani off but she went by the 3 train so after lunch Ola & I walked to the station and I bid her goodbye. The last 2 or 3 days have been hard ones to me & I have found it difficult to bear my burden. I walked on from the station to Biraghi on the Canareggio. He was not at home but his wife showed me the wood work for Mr Clark’s billiard room nearly complete. I then walked home by the Rialto. Wrote till tea time. Countess Canevaro & Iduna Bel came to tea. Ola went to the choir practise & to see the Montalbas. Mr Augustus Montalba is ill. After dinner Ola played the piano & I patience.
