30 November 1894 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 30th November [1894]. Busy morning writing &c. Ola went out to church & to see Countess Pisani. I worked at pasting up our old dinner book & brought it up to the last dinner Henry & I gave together on our silver wedding day! Lunched at 1 & wrote again till Countess Pisani came to see me a little after three. She sat with me talking till past 4 when she & Ola went out together. Idita Bentivoglio came to tea & then Mrs Eden & Miss Parnell & later Mr Woods who brought me the letter the church building committee think of sending to the newspapers to try & get money to finish the church here. He also showed a letter from Mr Scott here the architect who is furious at not being employed again for the church work. I wrote letters for an hour before dinner. Ola read aloud in the evening. The weather was dull & foggy this morning but cleared in the afternoon. Cook’s agent came today to say Elaine & my passages were secure for the 23rd Decr in the P&O.
