3 February 1895 — Luxor | |
Sunday. 3rd February [1895]. We went to morning service in the little chapel in the hotel garden. After lunch sat in the garden & drew a sketch of a Sheikh’s tomb. Went to tea with Dr Canney where we met Prince & Princess de Broglie who are here on their dahabeeyah. She is a young woman, rather good looking—with pretty French manners & tho’ she did not look so is very delicate. Dr Canney lives in a little house opposite this hotel. We returned to the hotel and I read the “Momie” aloud to Elaine till dinner. Post in & brought many letters & further accounts of my mother’s death. | |
