14 March 1895 — Cairo | |
Thursday. 14th March [1895]. Elaine & I drove to Cairo in the Hotel break at 11 & met Messrs Mossop, de Barreto & Lambton to go on the coach with them to Mena House. Mr Mossop drove us & we started at ¼ to 12 & got there just before 1 & lunched with the Lambtons. Sat with Lady Ashburton a little but before we left for town the old lady was ill & had gone to bed. I also sat some time with Mrs Hitchin. Lady Cromer & Lady Vivien came out there abt 3.30. At 7 the coach started to return to Cairo so we had to leave. Mr Mossop gave us tea on the terrace at Shepherds & then Elaine & I returned to Ghesireh. We all dined together in the evening & walked in garden. A ball at Casino. | |
