15 March 1895 — Cairo | |
Friday. 15th [March 1895]. I had a bad cold & remained in my room all the morning. Elaine went to walk in the garden. Abt 12 Lady V. Lambton & Aline & Col. Lambton came in from Mena House & we took a walk in the garden & then lunched at 1 & at 2 the Lambtons left us & went off to see the Barrages with Mr Garstin. Elaine & I went in a landau with Mr Mossop followed by Messrs Lambton & de Barreto to the Ghiseh Museum to buy scents & antiquities & returned back to Ghesireh & had tea in the garden. After dinner we walked in the garden & watched people going to dance at the Casino. Last night the dance was given by the “Bachelors”—tonight was the usual hotel dance. | |
