3 April 1895 — Brindisi | |
Wednesday. 3rd April [1895]. We reached Bologna at 8.30 having had early tea abt 6. An English lady going to Dresden got out at the same place & she breakfasted with us at Bologna. Elaine & I came on to Venice by 10.45 train. At St Elena I found Css Pisani on the platform with her maid Maria & she got into our compartment. We were mutually surprised & delighted at the meeting. Ola Du Cane met us at the station. It was dull rainy weather. I laid down in my room to rest being very tired. Css Pisani & Mrs Eden came to see me & then I went to bed & dined there. This day last year Henry & I set off on our last sad journey together & I am living it all over again. | |
