6 May 1895 — Lucerne
Monday. 6th [May 1895]. Remained here all day. Got up late. Took a walk in the afternoon for Elaine to see the Monument du Lion. How often have I seen it with Henry! We had tea at 5 & then went to the station & left by 6.40 train to Bale. Dined there at 8.50 & went on at 10 P.M. in the sleeping car. Had a full compartment. One very cheerful nice young lady—one older lady very cross & restless.
