7 June 1895 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Friday. 7th [June 1895]. We worked all the morning indoors. Very hot day. Edward was at his estate office all day except at meal time. Revd Mr Lyons came to tea with Blanche & then she & I took a drive in the victoria to Fanningstown & called on a Mr & Mrs Walsh. There were some pretty furniture & good pictures in the house. The owner pointed out a portrait of Ld Bessborough—a fine one evidently from Bessboro– A distant relation of his had been agent to the family & had carried away much old furniture &c in the time of Will: Lord Bessborough– This picture had evidently changed owners at that time.
