8 June 1895 — Bessborough, Fiddown, County Kilkenny
Saturday. 8th June [1895]. Blanche & Edward went to a garden party at Curraghmore given by the Waterfords in honour of Lord Wm Beresford & his bride the Dss of Marlborough. I remained at home—washed my hair had tea in my room & continued reading over Henry’s letters to Mr Clark. They are most wonderfully interesting & there is to me a sad delight in reading of all those happy days in Madrid, Consple & it brings it all so freshly back to my memory: I read / Of that glad year which once had been / In those fallen leaves which kept their green / The noble letters of the dead.
