28 October 1895 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey
Monday. 28th October [1895]. Messrs Harrington & Blundell left Milton after breakfast. At 11 I drove with Mrs Rate to the nursery garden to choose plants for Spring Farm. It was just in Dorking. We walked back to Milton. Miss Beaumont & her friend Miss Bromley came to luncheon. Two rather loud voiced maidens. Eda & Enid R. went to get a little kitten wh Eda saw yesterday & wh she thought I would like for Savile Row. It is a pretty grey tabby & we turned its name Flossy into Fluffie. Eda & I left by 3.43 train & returned to London with a pot of chrysanthemums & the kitten & went & took up our abode at 3 Savile Row & here I am in my new home—sad at beginning a new life & yet I feel it is better than to have gone on at 1 Queen Anne Street– Eda has gone to a Richter concert & Nelly Alderson & I dined in the studio & now Nelly has gone back to Half Moon Street & I am sitting in my bedroom & feel so strange in it—but it is comfortable & pretty & the electric light makes it pretty & bright.
