7 November 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 7th November [1895]. A very wet day & I did not go out. Wrote letters & tidied papers in library. Roberts the butler came & apologised most abjectly for his behaviour in giving me warning because I would not employ a hall boy– So I consented to forgive him & immediately set him to work to move furniture & books wh took most of the day to do. Eda went out to tea. It was a melancholy day—dark & wet & miserable. Louis Du Cane came to see me before dinner. Eda & I went to dine in Cav. Sqr & met there Maria, Richard & Nela–
