8 November 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 8th [November 1895]. A horrid wet day & muggy. Mr Rate came to see me to talk about the doing up of Spring Farm. It was a wet day & I did not go out. Eda went to lunch with the Cav. Sqr people. Her brother Monty came up to town & came here & went up to lunch with the Du Canes. I remained at home all day reading & writing. Mrs Rate & her daughter Mrs Hoare came to tea & also Mildred Mansell, my brother Arthur’s daughter. Eda & I dined quietly & had Lady Gregory with us—she left early & we went to bed.
