18 November 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Monday. 18th [November 1895]. Arranged books in morning. A horrible black fog—so that had to keep the electric light going all the morning. Monty was at home arranging his furniture &c & made the front hall very pretty with his nice things. Mrs Ball & Miss Green, the Guests’ old governess came to luncheon. I had Blanche’s carriage to drive in the afternoon. I took out Miss Green—we went first to my sister Maria & took her out with us then left Miss Green at the A & N Stores & Maria & I went on leaving cards. Called on Miss Hogarth & also on Lady Aberdare both out. I came in before 5 & sent Maria home in the carriage. Tea & dinner alone. Patience & bed early. I am beginning to get accustomed to being alone & it is peaceful.
