20 November 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 20th November [1895]. Breakfasted in bed at 8. Read the Times & dressed by 9.30. Worked for Blanche. At 11 Sr Caneparo the decorator came & took an order for painted tapestry for Mr Clark at Talygarn. At 11.30 I walked to Hertford St hoping to see Addie but she was out. I came home again. Miss Katherine Arbuthnot came to lunch with me. I had not seen her since last year at Cairo. She left me at 3 & then I went out intending to go & enquire after Rustem Pasha who is very ill & on the way I saw the announcement of his death so I went on to see Maria who was at home & she came out walking with me & to tea at Savile Row. We had tea in the library as the new stair carpet was being laid. The twins joined their mother here at tea & took her home. I arranged papers & wrote letters till dinner. Sewed in eveng.
